Carole Johnson

Part-time Instructor of Strategic Communication

Carole JohnsonCarole Johnson worked as both a journalist and a communications specialist since graduating from Bowling Green State University where she received her undergraduate degree in journalism. When she first graduated, Carole worked for a slew of small Dayton publications, including the Xenia daily newspaper.

In 1990, Johnson moved on to being the communications specialist for Dayton Public Schools where she worked with media relations, crisis communications and marketing strategy for the district for 10 years.

Johnson then moved to Miami University’s regional campuses in the field of communications while earning her graduate degree in strategic communications. Eventually, Carole transferred to the Oxford campus where she works in university communications and teaches as an adjunct professor in public speaking and journalism. Carole has been teaching at Miami since she started graduate school in 2004.

She recently won the Sigma Alpha Pi Fraternity, National Society of Leadership and Success, award for Excellent in Teaching.

Johnson says she loves teaching her students because it provides a great insight into the student mind from an administrative standpoint, and keeps her sane.
