Miami University graduate Bee Redfield MA ’19 was recently hired as the new Executive Director of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC), an aquarium and museum in Washington State, and was featured in her hometown newspaper, the Peninsula Daily News. The article mentions how her work in the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) and the formative experiences she had on her 2019 Earth Expeditions are making a difference at PTMSC and with the Coast Salish people in protecting the Salish Sea.

Redfield earned a Master of Arts (MA) in the biological sciences from Miami University through Project Dragonfly‘s AIP while working full-time as a Community Relations Manager for a local animal shelter in South Elgin, Illinois. After receiving her degree from the program, with a Master Plan focused on predator awareness and safety in communities, specifically working with bears, Redfield began pursuing her doctorate in quantitative ecology at Purdue University in Indiana.

As an AIP student, Redfield took web-based Miami courses and participated in experiential learning through Brookfield Zoo and explored natural around Illinois.
