Jonathan Spencer honored with renewable energy leadership award

Miami University graduate student Jonathan Spencer was honored with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association & Straubel Foundation Clean Energy Leadership Award for his work to empower citizens to launch sustainability commissions in their own municipalities. Spencer is a member of the Maplewood Sustainability Commission (MSC) and a student in Project Dragonfly‘s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) with experiential learning at Missouri Botanical Garden.
For Spencer, the AIP “fits well” with his schedule and budget. “Working full-time is demanding, so I really appreciate the flexibility of the degree.” The program also allows Spencer to align his graduate assignments and research on renewable energy with his professional work as a data scientist and MSC member.
