Pathways to nature, spiritual awareness

Melissa Breed-parks

Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) graduate student Melissa Breed-Parks of St. Louis, Missouri, wrote an article for Friends Journal, a publication of the Friends Publishing Corporation that communicates the Quaker experience. In her article, "Pathways to Nature, Pathways to Spirit," she shares about how nature shows up in our spiritual lives. "Over the years, I have noticed when Friends share their moments of feeling deep spiritual awareness, they are just as often in the woods, a park, or their gardens as in a gathered meeting." Breed-Park's AIP site is the Missouri Botanical Garden.

As a student in Miami's biology department, Breed-Parks is earning a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in the Biological Sciences through Project Dragonfly's AIP while working as a teacher for the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District.
