Rooted Here: Networks of Modern & Contemporary Art

Rooted Here is the fifteenth annual exhibition curated by Miami University students in the Fall 2025 Art and Architecture History Capstone Seminar. With guidance from Art and Architecture History faculty and Art Museum staff, the students engaged in the full experience of curating an exhibition. They selected the exhibition theme, chose and researched the objects, wrote text panels and object labels, and arranged the organizational flow.

This process gave students a hands-on opportunity to take a deep exploration of the Art Museum, Miami University, Oxford, and the Midwest, as an intersection of major networks in modern and contemporary art. This exhibition would not be possible without the leadership of Dr. Annie Dell’Aria, Associate Professor of Art & Architecture History in the Department of Art; Jason E. Shaiman, Interim Director and Curator of Exhibitions; and Sherri Krazl, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, at the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum. Special thanks is extended to Hope Cook, Operations Manager; Hayden Jarvis, Graphic Design Student; and Caitlin Wong, Graphic Design Student for their support in this process.
