Career Resources

Students at Career Fair

For many, the goal of college is to prepare for a professional career upon graduation. To help achieve this goal, you should connect to the Center for Career Exploration & Success.  This office is your best source of information for internships, jobs, resume preparation, on-campus interviewing and student programs and workshops.

In addition to the many on-campus services, the career center website has many other resources to assist students in preparing for a professional career and securing their first job.

All students within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) have a dedicated career advisor from the career center.  The CEC career advisor has office hours in Benton Hall during the academic year to review resumes, connect you to career resources and show you how to get the most out your search.  S/he is also available by appointment for more personal attention.  Please contact Candace Taylor in the CEC Dean’s Office (513-529-0700 or email Candace Taylor, for information on office hours for the CEC career advisor.

The career center uses Handshake, a database for students and employers. This is the conduit through which you can search for permanent positions, internships or co-ops with companies who recruit Miami students.  You can set up search agents to be notified when new job postings are entered.  Register in Handshake to upload a resume and schedule on-campus interviews.   There are also other links to job postings outside of CAREERlink, the on-campus recruiting schedule and internet resources for careers.

Miami’s Career Center should be an active partner in your career preparation.  Familiarize yourself with their services and use them throughout your time at Miami.
