Your career advisor at Miami University can help you explore opportunities, prepare for your job or internship search, and develop as a young professional. While you have to schedule a meeting with your advisor, we also offer drop-in appointments with our peer career coaches.

Career Advisor Hours
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Peer Career Coach Hours
Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In-Person Location: 45 Armstrong Student Center
Notice: Career advisors are available unless the Miami is closed, but you must schedule an appointment in Handshake to meet with one. Peer career coaches are unavailable during final exams, winter/spring break, and the winter and summer terms.
Advising vs. Drop-In Appointments
How can a career advisor support you? What does it mean to meet with a peer career coach? Before making an appointment, or dropping into the Career Center, review the below table so you can make an informed decision about who can best help you.

Scheduling an Appointment
To schedule an appointment with a career advisor:
- Log into Handshake.
- Click “Career Center.”
- Click “Appointments.”
- Click “Schedule a New Appointment.”
- Select an “Appointment Type.” You may only select one type.
- Select the day of the week you want to schedule your appointment.
- Click on the staff member’s name and time to make an appointment selection.
- Select “In-person,” “Phone Call”, or “Virtual on Handshake” in the “Appointment medium” section.
- If selecting “Phone Call,” add in the “What can we help you with?” section a phone number to contact you. The staff member will confirm the process for the phone appointment through messaging in Handshake.
- You may add any additional notes about the appointment focus on “What can we help you with?”
- Click “Request.”
To schedule an appointment with a peer career coach:
- Log into Handshake.
- Click “Career Center.”
- Click “Appointments.”
- Click “Schedule a New Appointment.”
- Select an “Appointment Type.” You may only select one type.
- Select the day of the week you want to schedule your appointment.
- Click on the time to make an appointment selection.
- Select “In-person” or “Virtual on Handshake” in the “Appointment medium” section.
- You may add any additional notes about the appointment focus on “What can we help you with?”
- Click “Request.”
