As an active member of The National Association of Fellowships Advisors (NAFA), Miami University subscribes to NAFA’s Values and Code of Ethics pertaining to fellowship and scholarship competitions. Miami University applicants are expected to adhere to NAFA’s policy on original work whereby “all application materials, including but not limited to personal statements, resumes, proposals, essays, shall be the sole and original work of the applicant.”
The use of artificial intelligence (e.g. ChatGPT) to write fellowship or scholarship application materials is not appropriate. Students found to have used AI to draft application materials will forfeit any university endorsement or certification required for the application and may be referred to the Office of Academic Integrity for disciplinary action.
