IT work to take place over Spring Break 2025
IT Services will perform maintenance and implement changes in the computing environment between Saturday, March 22, and Saturday, March 29. This week is traditionally a time when demands on systems are lower, reducing the risk that students, faculty, or staff will be inconvenienced by the outages and disruptions that this work may cause.

Here are some of the activities that we will be doing during this time:
March 21 - 24: Digital Signage upgrade
Digital signs across campus (e.g., the ones in the dining halls, recreation facilities, and others) will undergo version upgrades the first weekend of Spring Break. We expect all upgrades will be completed Monday, March 24. During the upgrade, signs will continue to play the content scheduled, but administrators will not be able to access the submission portal.
March 22: Internet router upgrade
Network technicians will be performing an upgrade of the main internet router for Miami in order to keep it up to date. This will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
During this upgrade window, please be aware that there will be an internet outage of up to 15 minutes. This includes both wired and wireless connections.
March 23: Network Switch Upgrade for Shriver Center
Throughout the day on Sunday, March 23, technicians will be replacing network switches in the Shriver Center. No outages are expected, but if you experience any issues, please wait 5 minutes and try again.
March 24: Containers / Miami Apps Upgrade
We will be upgrading the container environment that supports Miami applications like CourseList, MyCourses, Registration Override, and others. The AWS EKS (Kubernetes) upgrade will take place on Monday, March 24, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is a rolling upgrade, meaning each node of the cluster will be upgraded one at a time while the others continue to maintain the environment – so we do not expect any outages to occur.
March 29: Monthly Banner Upgrades
The regular production upgrades of Banner applications will take place throughout the day on Saturday, March 29. Test upgrades were completed at the end of February, and business offices have been asked to complete their testing by Wednesday, March 19.
