Google "Pending Delete" Reminder
Another reminder that files that include a "Pending Delete" label have been shared with you by someone whose account will be deleted in the near future. This may include the files of former faculty, staff members, or student employees who you have worked with in the past.
When a “Pending Delete” label is applied to a document, the owner will lose access to their accounts within 45 days of their departure, but you will be able to see and interact with their Google documents (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.) for 180 days after they leave.
We will start the process of deleting old accounts on September 15, 2025. This means that the data of all employees who have been gone for longer than seven (7) years will be purged on Sept. 15, in addition to starting the regular cadence of removing access to data from former employees. That means you will need to look at documents that have been shared with you by anyone who has left Miami in the last seven years.
You still have some time to go through all of your documents shared with you by another person who has left Miami. If you haven't started working through these files, we highly recommend that you start now!

Windows 10 Going EOL on October 14
After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. Your PC will still work but there will no longer be security updates provided for it.
This means several things from a technology perspective:
- Windows 10 will stop receiving quality updates from Microsoft, which means no more monthly security patches.
- There will also be no more feature releases (which are more substantial upgrades) from Microsoft for Windows 10.
- In order to stay up-to-date with security concerns and new features from Microsoft, everyone running Windows 10 on their devices will need to upgrade to Windows 11 before the advertised date.
Miami-managed devices will all be upgraded before October 14, 2025, and we highly recommend that you also upgrade your personal computer if you have not yet done so.
