Administrative Assistant Employee Profiles

We caught up with the administrative assistants in IT Services to show you a little bit of what their workday is like. Let's meet them!

Kasey Arthur

Kasey's main role as an administrative assistant is to provide support to the IT department/IT team to ensure the office runs efficiently.  She handles administrative, clerical, and organizational tasks.  One main task she is responsible for is when a member of the IT team submits a ticket through TeamDynamix, she takes responsibility for those and completes the requested task. When Kasey was asked what her favorite part of the job is she said, “Something about this job that I enjoy is getting to be a member of a great and supportive team!”

Kasey and her son

Kasey attended Miami University before accepting her role here and held an associate's degree in education, health, and society. After accepting her role here, she decided to re-enroll here and received her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies (concentration in Education and Humanities) in December of 2024. Before working at Miami, Kasey’s work background was heavy in office administration roles such as human resources, staffing, recruiting, and scheduling. She mostly worked in the healthcare field, but also has experience in education.

Kasey’s favorite things to do when she isn’t working are spending time with her family/friend/pets, traveling, reading, swimming, playing pool with her husband, and taking naps! When Kasey was asked if she has anything else interesting about herself that she would like to share she said, “People find it strange that I don’t have a 'favorite' of anything. I don’t have a favorite color, food, movie, song, et cetera.  I sometimes go through stages where I will hyper-fixate on something (like a song) for a few weeks and then I am over it. I thought that was normal, but people find it to be interesting or strange.”

Emma Lester

Emma's main role is to meet the needs of the department and to help Miami run smoothly and efficiently. She enters requisitions for purchase orders, pays invoices, makes purchases and reconciles them as well as schedules meetings and interviews. When Emma was asked what her favorite part of her job was she said, “Creating spreadsheets!”

Emma holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Technology from Miami University Hamilton. Emma originally started out as a student worker here for four years in Accounts Payable, beginning in 2005, then she worked at First Financial in their Client Operations department for a few years and then came back as a full-time employee in Accounts Payable in 2011.

When Emma isn’t working she loves doing anything with her kids! She also enjoys designing marketing materials such as invitations, flyers, posters, and brochures. Often, the signage used when IT Services has a party of any kind has been created by Emma. When Emma's was asked if there is anything else interesting she would like to share she said, “I married my high school sweetheart and last year we adopted twins, Carson and Chloe!”

Amy Moore

The main role in Amy's job is taking care of job travel, most purchases in the department, and tracking and purchasing of computers. She is also a Building Point of Contact and does other duties as needed for the department. Her favorite part of her job is the people she works with. She says they have a great group that gets along really well.

Amy Moore and her family

Amy holds an associate's degree in applied business and a bachelor’s degree in sport and health studies, both from Miami. When Amy was asked what her work background was prior to coming to Miami, she said, “I was a stay-at-home mom for many years, worked in a grocery store managing the video department and cashier, Receptionist at H & R Block for many tax seasons, and worked the Service Desk at Elder Beerman. At Miami, I spent 21 years in the athletic department. I worked my way around the department in many different areas, ending up as a photographer/videographer for Athletic Communications. I also worked a year at the Career Center as an event planner. I have been with IT Services for over four years.”

Amy was also asked what she likes to do when she isn’t at work and she answered, “Photography. I do work for the Hamilton Joe's and have been slowly picking up work. Some pay, some is just a good time. I spend a lot of time with my grandkids. I have five in the area and four in Texas. I also make cheesecakes and have been asked to bake them to sell in stores, but I haven't figured all that out yet.”

Lastly, Amy was asked if there was anything else interesting about herself that she would like to share, and she said, “Ever since my husband died in 1995, I have always looked for opportunities for new adventures in life. I've learned how to ride a motorcycle and enjoyed that for many years. I learned how to shoot a compound bow and competed in archery tournaments locally. I completed my bachelor's degree after I started working at Miami, while working full-time and raising five kids by myself. I used to own campers and boats and spent a lot of time at Brookville Lake. I hope to retire in a few years and take my camera across the country to photograph as much of America as I possibly can.”

Sandy Keller

The main role in Sandy's job is supporting the staff in IT Services. She also does a lot of purchasing, paying invoices, and travel arrangements. Her favorite part of her job is being able to help the staff in IT Services and the friendships she's developed by working here. She says, “ All the years I have worked here at Miami, and all have been in IT Services, has been a blessing to me.”

Sandy Keller and her family

Sandy went to Garfield High School and completed a 2-year business course. Prior to working at Miami, Sandy worked at a uranium process plant, called Fernald, for 24 years as a secretary.

When Sandy isn’t at work she loves spending time with her family, cooking, reading, crocheting, and helping at her church. Lastly, Sandy was asked if there was anything else interesting that she would like to share, and she said, “ I have been married to my husband, high school sweetheart, for 44 years. We have two daughters, two sons-in-law and four grandsons; Ages 16, 11, 10, 7. Also, but not least, our dog named Crosley.”

One last thing...

What Sandy didn't say is something that hits close to home for all of us: She is retiring at the end of October after 20 years in IT Services at Miami. She says it was a blessing to her—but really it was us who benefitted from having her around. Thank you for all your hard work, Sandy! We're wishing you the best in your next adventure!
