Come see us!

Information tables: Spin the wheel, get a prize . . . Be the phish?

We will have information tables set up in Oxford, Hamilton, and Middletown throughout the month of October. Stop by to win prizes, ask us questions, and learn more about information security at Miami:

You’re invited: Fireside Cyberchat with Helen Patton: AI and Cybersecurity: Friend, Foe, or Something Between?

In addition to the in-person security tables, we will also have an opportunity to learn from a true industry expert via Zoom.

Helen Patton

On October 16 at 2 p.m., join IT Services and the Information Security Office for our second annual Fireside Cyberchat with Helen Patton.

Helen Patton is a strategic cybersecurity advisor at Cisco, and previously the CISO at The Ohio State University. Helen has a master’s degree in public policy, blogs about cybersecurity stuff and is the author of “Navigating the Cybersecurity Career Path”. She advocates for more naps and is anti-bagpipes.

Helen will speak on several topics, including:

  • The intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
  • Current AI legislation.
  • The threat of AI-powered attacks.
  • Best practices for using AI so you can protect both yourself and Miami.

This event is open to all Miamians—faculty, staff, and students—so please forward this invitation to anyone you think might be interested!

This will be Helen’s second Fireside Cyberchat, as last year she joined us to speak about the importance of digital estate planning. (Find the video on our YouTube channel!)
