IT Help update: ITHelp email no longer supported after March 16

After March 16, 2026, emailing ITHelp@MiamiOH.edu will no longer be a viable support channel for Miami clients due to constraints of new technology being adopted by our help desk partner.

Although email has not been an advertised support channel for Miami for several years, some members of the Miami community still utilize email to request technology assistance (though this represents barely more than 10 percent of our support requests). After this date, unfortunately, emailing support at ITHelp@MiamiOH.edu will no longer work.

For assistance with a Miami technology issue, please contact IT Help at 513-529-7900 or initiate a live chat at MiamiOH.edu/ITchat.

Upcoming deadlines for IT technologies and related activities

As the Spring 2026 semester continues, there are several deadlines and important dates about which IT Services would like to remind the Miami community. These dates are fast approaching, so put them on your calendar now!

Google Meet codes generated from calendar now required to be unique between meetings

There is a small change to how passcodes are generated for Google Meet events that you create from your calendar. For ongoing calendar events, Google is now discouraging the reuse of passcodes (even if it is for meetings in an ongoing series).

The passcode associated with the meeting determines what resources from that meeting (Gemini summaries, chat, etc.) are available to you. In other words, if you use a code from the first meeting in a series (Meeting 1) when you join the second meeting (Meeting 2), you will be prompted to put in a new code, or you will only be allowed to access the resources from that first meeting.

More explanation can be found in Google’s support blog.
