Supporting Technology and Building Connections Meet Lucy Anderson
Meet Lucy Anderson, Support Analyst I at Miami University.
As a Support Analyst I at Miami University, Lucy Anderson plays a key role in keeping technology running smoothly across campus. Her responsibilities include providing IT support for staff and faculty in a variety of departments, as well as AV support for many of the classrooms on campus. From hardware and software troubleshooting to deploying new computers and resolving classroom projection issues, Lucy helps ensure that the technology Miami relies on every day functions effectively.

One of Lucy’s favorite aspects of her role is the opportunity to connect with people from all areas of the university. Whether she is assisting faculty members, Athletics staff, or administrative offices, she enjoys helping others solve problems and supporting the work they do across campus.
Student Employee to Support Analyst
Lucy graduated from Yellow Springs High School in 2020 before attending Miami University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in December 2023. Her journey with Miami’s technology services began as a student employee with EMSS during her senior year, providing IT support while completing her degree. That experience helped pave the way for her current position as a full-time Support Analyst.
Life Beyond the Help Desk
When Lucy isn’t working she enjoys discovering new music, playing competitive games on her PC, spending time with her two cats, and watching true crime documentaries. She is also passionate about personal finance, esports, sports cars and bikes, Star Wars, and anything cat related. This summer, she hopes to achieve a personal goal of purchasing her first motorcycle and learning how to ride it.

Another one of Lucy’s favorite things is baking and she says that her favorite thing to bake is banana bread. She says, “There are lots of ways to customize it (my top additions would have to be chocolate chips and walnuts) and it's a great way to make use of overly ripe bananas that might otherwise go to waste.”
As a student at Miami, Lucy was heavily involved in the esports club. She says, “I was the club's first Valorant game coordinator. This entailed holding tryouts, building teams, and getting them involved in various tournaments. I also helped organize several intramural Valorant tournaments alongside James Davis.”
A Memorable Trip to Toronto
Lucy was asked if there was anything else that she would like to share and she said that one of her most memorable life experiences came in 2025 when she traveled to Toronto to attend Masters Toronto, an international Valorant tournament. She says, “My favorite team Paper Rex ended up winning the whole thing, which was such a blast to experience in-person, as it was my first ever LAN event.” (LAN stands for Local Area Network – in other words, a LAN event is when gamers play together in the same space!)
Whether Lucy is solving technology problems, cheering on her favorite esports team, spending time with her cats, or experimenting with a new banana bread recipe, Lucy embraces every opportunity to connect with others.
