Security Events

To promote cybersecurity education and awareness, the Information Security Office hosts Security Awareness events, trainings, and other meetings to help departments around campus in their own efforts:

ShredFest

ShredFest is an annual event co-sponsored by IT Services and the Office of General Counsel. During ShredFest, a mobile shredder from ERTH Systems Shredding allows for the disposal of both University and personal, confidential documents. Any faculty, staff, or student may bring documents to ShredFest. For departments, this is an opportunity to bring confidential office and personal documents for secure, on-site shredding. ShredFest 2024 will take place again this year during Finals week in May. Get ready to shred your documents!

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is observed each October as a reminder to always remain vigilant when it comes to being online and working with data.

Each year, the Information Security Office and IT Communications collect stories, tips, and reminders about how to focus on cybersecurity awareness and what you should be doing to ensure your own and others' data security. Be on the lookout for news articles, social media posts, fun new videos, and more!

We've collected a playlist of helpful YouTube videos from previous years to help illustrate several important cybersecurity concepts.
