Accolades and Achievements

Yoshinori Tomoyasu, associate professor of Biology, received $763,232 from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "Rules and Constraints Shaping the Evolution of Gene Regulatory Networks."

Haifei Shi, professor of Biology, received $575,372 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for a project entitled "Effects of Apolipoprotein A4 on Lipid Metabolism via Sympathetic Regulation."

Rachel Morgan-Kiss, chair and professor of Microbiology, received additional support of $106,543 from the U.S. Department of Energy for a project entitled "Collaborative Project: Dynamics and consequences of PSI supercomplexes."

Chi-Hao Cheng, professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received $45,908 from the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education, pass-through funds from the Air Force Research Laboratory, for a project entitled "LLMs for Electronic Warfare: Modeling and Detecting Radar Signal Patterns."

Suzanne Kunkel, senior research scholar in the Scripps Gerontology Center, received $44,590 from USAging of a new for a project entitled "Strengthening Social Connections in Rural and Tribal Communities."

Kevin Yehl, assistant professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, received $39,757 from the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education for a project entitled "Engineering CRISPR-Cas Theranostics for In-body Sensing."

Sarah Larson, associate professor of Political Science, and Patrick Haney, professor of Political Science and director of the Center of Public Management and Regional Affairs, received $32,000 from the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority for a project entitled "CPMRA Licking County STEM Survey."

Jennifer Green, associate clinical professor of Psychology, received $38,400 from Reclaimed Divergence for a project entitled "Reclaimed Divergence, Green."  

Tereza Jezkova, associate professor of Biology, and Jason Bracken, research associate in Biology, received $22,907 from Bastion Technologies for a project entitled "Eastern Massasauga Survey."

Lydia Manning, director of professional education and consulting services in Scripps Gerontology Center, received $19,781 from SFCS Architects for a project entitled "Dementia Diaries 2026: Experiential Simulation, Environmental Assessment, and Family Perspectives in Memory Care Design."

Cory Rusinek, assistant professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, received $16,026 from the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education, pass-through funds from the Air Force Research Laboratory, for a project entitled "Organic Materials for Electronic and Optoelectronic Applications."

Vahagn Manukian, professor of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, received $3,000 from the American Mathematical Society, pass-through funds from the Simons Foundation, for a project entitled "Patterns and Traveling Waves in Nonlinearly Coupled Systems."

David Tierney, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, received $3,375 from Heraeus Epurio LLC for a project entitled "NMR Analysis of Research and Production Samples."
