Explanation of Fees
Fees are calculated based on:
- The campus to which you are admitted
- The number of credit hours for which you are enrolled
- The level of enrollment (undergraduate vs graduate)
- Whether you live on campus or off campus
- The term for which you are admitted
Description of Fees
Instructional Fee
Associated to the instruction of the class.
Non-Resident Surcharge
Miami University receives subsidy from the State of Ohio for students who are Ohio residents. Non-Ohio residents are required to pay the Non-Resident Surcharge.
General Fee
The General fee is comprised of the following:
- Basic General Fee: Other University services offered to the student, such as Student Health Service Center, Recreational Sports Center, Goggin Ice Center, Student Organizations, Scholastic Club Sports, Lectures & Artists, Music Organizations, Intercollegiate Athletics and Other Student Activities
- Transit Fee: Provides transportation around campus, uptown, and to off-campus student housing areas.
Facilities Fee: Charged to Oxford students only, the Facilities Fee covers building usage and construction efforts on campus. - Student Technology Fee: Funds programs and services that support students in achieving their academic progress goals and enhancing their life at Miami.
- Armstrong Student Center Fee: The Armstrong Student Center funds pay for part of the construction and operating costs of the Armstrong Student Center. For more information on this fee, including its history and evolution, please see Student Center Fee.

Mental Health Fee: This fee expands resources for student mental health and emotional wellbeing, including programming, education, and services on Miami's Oxford campus. Resources will be focused on the full spectrum of student needs: prevention, treatment, support, and response.
- Matriculation Fee: Covers one-time fees for orientation, alcohol education, and graduation fee and is not included in tuition.
Career Development Fee
This fee broadens and deepens career exploration and professional development services. It increases the career advisor to student ratio, expands internships and immersive experiences, and enhances support for career exploration and planning activities for students.

What do I do if I think there are incorrect charges on my account?
It is possible that the transaction date on your bill may not coincide with the actual day the charge was incurred. For more information please contact the office/department that is responsible for creating the charge:
