The Department of Justice and Community Studies is committed to providing educational opportunities and service to the Hamilton and Middletown communities at large, not just Miami University. In pursuit of this goal, the JCS department offers various events to engage our community with criminal justice topics and agencies.

Criminal Justice Week

Every year, the JCS department hosts a series of events during a week in the fall semester. These events are centered around a central theme connected to either civic and regional development, criminal justice, or forensic science and investigation. These events are open to the public, and offer an exciting opportunity to hear from people that have a direct impact on the criminal justice system and their community. For more details on events from prior years, see Criminal Justice Week.

Criminal Justice Career Symposium

During the spring semester, the JCS department offers a career symposium featuring employment and internship opportunities from local agencies. This event is open to all Miami University students, with a minimal charge to non-students. High school students who are interested in Miami can also find additional information about the JCS department at this event.
