Weather and Safety
In conditions of bad weather, check your Miami email and the Miami University homepage. Students are always notified about closings and delays via e-mail; however, you can also choose to sign up to receive text message alerts.
If the university is open and you are unable to make it to class due to weather, contact your professors individually and let them know your situation.
Campus Safety
The Miami University Police Department (MUPD) offers many services and programs to promote the safety and well-being of all Miami University students. Some of the services that may be of particular interest to commuters include:
- Unlocking locked vehicles
- Jump started dead batteries
- Safety Escorts
Call 513.529.2222 to inquire about these services. MUPD also provides tips for student safety in a variety of scenarios, including safety in the parking lot.
How safe is campus?
Miami is required to publish crime statistics on an annual basis, in compliance with the Campus Security Act. Crime Statistics for the Oxford campus can be found on the Oxford Campus Report.
MUPD Locations
The Miami University Police Department is a full-service police agency. In addition to the police headquarters located on Oxford-Trenton Rd., four substations on the Oxford campus (Armstrong Student Center 1055, Farmer School of Business 1001, King Library 31, and Yager Stadium 108) allow campus police to be more accessible and available to meet and interact with students.
