Undergraduate Admission to a Music Major or Minor at Miami University

To pursue a music degree, you must apply both to Miami University and to the Department of Music. These are separate processes, but you may complete them concurrently—no need to wait for a University admission decision before applying to the Department.

Step 1: Apply to Miami University

  • Review University application deadlines.
  • Complete your application via the Office of Admission website.

Step 2: Apply to the Department of Music

  • Review audition requirements for your performance area (voice, instrument, or composition).
  • Apply through Slate and schedule a live audition, or upload a video audition.
  • Good news: The Department waives all application fees.

Music Talent Scholarships

Undergraduate applicants may be considered for a music talent scholarship. These awards are distinct and in addition to any academic merit scholarships that may be offered by the university. Music talent scholarship decisions are made at the time of audition.
