Esports are multiplayer video games played competitively, often for spectators.
From improving cognitive abilities to enhancing social skills, esports benefit competitors’ personal development in many ways.
The Armstrong Student Center provides a handful of licenses for some titles in order for users to play without needing to own the game personally.
For most competitive games, players usually prefer to use their own accounts in order to maintain their rankings and stat-tracking, so we will provide a small number of licenses for players who want to play on a more casual basis. Each computer in the Esports Gaming Room will be installed with software called GGLeap that makes it easy for users to log into whatever accounts they have (Steam, Battle.net, etc) in order to play the games they own.
No. We ask that you do not install other games that are either not installed or not-approved. Installing or playing games that are not on the list of approved games is a violation of Esports Gaming Room policy.
The Esports Gaming Room is free for any student drop in recreation during our normal hours. If you or your club would like to reserve space for practices or events, it may be available for rentals.
The Esports Gaming Room can host meetings, tryouts, practices, tournaments, and more. As long as your request is submitted in advance for approval, suggestions are more than welcome!
