How to Apply to Miami University: Three Pathways for Future Teachers
Oxford-Based Residential Program
All students interested in the Oxford-Based Residential Program must apply to Miami University Oxford Campus and indicate Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry as their program of interest.
We offer undergraduate programs that prepare students for teaching licenses at various grade levels:
Primary Education – License for teaching Pre-K through 5th grade
Middle Childhood Education – License for teaching 4th through 9th grade
Adolescent to Young Adult Education – License for teaching 7th through 12th grade
Our foreign language programs—Chinese, French, German, Latin, and Spanish—qualify graduates to teach those languages at any grade level from Pre-K through 12.
Additionally, our TESOL Endorsement Certificate prepares graduates to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to students in any grade, Pre-K through 12.
Regional Campus Primary Education Cohort
To apply for RPEC, students must:
Apply to Miami University Regionals and select Primary Education as their program of interest, or request to transfer their Oxford campus application to Regionals.
Complete an additional Cohort application form, which will be sent electronically after applying.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a first-time, first-semester student
Current or transfer students are not eligible
The program only admits students for the fall semester (no spring admissions)
Important Dates:
Priority deadline: March 1
No applications will be accepted after the deadline or once the cohort is full.
Start at the Regional Campus and Transition to Oxford
Miami University Regionals and Oxford campuses offer a joint pathway for Education majors. Students begin their degree at the Regionals and relocate to the Oxford campus midway to complete their program.
