Through rigorous academics and experiential learning, our goal in this department is to prepare the next generation of leaders making an impact on health, athletics, and nutrition. Our undergraduate and graduate programs emphasize not only the study of the human body but society as a whole. At Miami University, students in the Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health (KNH) can pursue majors that prepare them for careers in health and medicine. Undergraduate students explore kinesiology and nutrition, often on pre-health tracks like physical therapy, occupational therapy, and medicine. At the graduate level, Miami offers a combined Master’s and dietetic internship for future registered dietitians, as well as a Master’s in Athletic Training—an accredited program that equips students for success in a growing profession.

We are also the home department of the Public Health Promotion concentration, of the Public Health, B.A. degree program within the College of Arts and Sciences. All of our programs emphasize training and study in the classroom, the laboratory, and the field.
Our minor in Nutrition provides a basic understanding of nutrition with specialized courses in areas such as nutrition science, food studies, and population health. The Health Behavior Minor provides the foundational courses for students who wish to specialize in health education and become a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
