One of the most important skills that I've learned is being able to work with other people who have different managing styles. You can definitely learn about it during classes, but it’s even better living it in real life and being able to experience that on the job.

What do you like about your major in Marketing?

I love the people. The professors are very personable. they know me by name — they know everyone by name. And it's a smaller class size, which is why I chose Miami. I wanted to get that special attention and get those connections as a professional. I also specifically love their client challenges. I worked with Abbott Nutrition, where we created a product to get them to $40 million in sales by the first two years, and it was basically a case competition.

How do you combine your Marketing expertise with your passion for Entrepreneurship?

I've always loved business and the idea of having a business — I created one when I was in high school. Marketing is an essential part of having a startup business. You can have a fantastic business idea, but if no one knows about it, then you're out of luck. So, marketing has been fascinating for me — learning what people will look at and what people will buy.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership means being able to empower people to reach the same goal that you have. People are motivated for many different reasons, and we definitely study that in our management classes. Miami also offers opportunities for people who are looking to be in a leadership role. Being a leader isn't necessarily having a title, but there are positions available for practically anything you can imagine.
