How did you decide on your majors?

Both my parents are entrepreneurs. They own their own businesses. I'm really interested in the financial stuff. I really like the numbers. I was never good at math, but business math just makes sense to me in a way that algebra or calculus doesn't. Seeing everything that my parents have gone through, I was always so interested in starting my own business, and I really wanted to understand the language of business.

Tell us about your businesses.

I do custom embroidered apparel as the College Collective. It started when my ESP 103 teacher, Beth Troy, took the class to the Miami University MakerSpace, and we did a workshop there. The following spring, I had a lot of time on my hands, and I decided I was going to learn something to make something out of my time. I was making things, and I was wearing them out and about, and I was literally selling them off my body to people. Then I have a spray tan company, Sunny in Ox. Some seniors were graduating, and they were selling the business, and I thought, “That is an amazing business opportunity.”

What are you thinking about doing after you graduate?

I would love to convert an RV or a trailer into a College Collective-branded business that goes around to different college campuses and does on-the-spot custom embroidered apparel, makeup bags, and tote bags. But I'm super driven, and I'm super passionate about success, and really want to climb the corporate ladder. I've thought about going into banking. I think wealth management would be really awesome. I'd love to represent a single-family firm. I love client-facing. I love talking to and interacting with people. I think that my passion is finding creative ways to help people and make people's days better, even in small ways.
