Four Miami students named Gilman Scholars
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships help fund study abroad experiences.

Four Miami University students have been awarded a collective $13,500 from the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to help fund their study abroad experiences.
Miami’s Gilman Scholarship winners are among 1,600 recipients selected from a record pool of 7,700 applicants received during the fall application cycle.
Gilman recipients are American undergraduate students attending more than 500 U.S. colleges and represent all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. On average, 65 percent of Gilman recipients are from rural areas and small towns across America, and half are first-generation college or university students.
Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than 44,000 Gilman scholars have studied or interned in more than 170 countries around the globe. Supported by the U.S. Congress, the Gilman Scholarship is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education.
More than 100 Miami students have received Gilman Scholarships to support study abroad experiences in the past decade.
Global Initiatives extends our congratulations to Miami’s newest Gilman Scholars.
