Live online appointments, hosted throughour online platform WCOnline, have you meet with a Howe Writing Center (HWC) consultant virtually in real-time. You’ll use video, audio, chat, and a shared whiteboard to discuss your writing.
In a live online appointment, you may either upload your work to your appointment form in advance or share it with your consultant at the beginning of the appointment using WCOnline’s whiteboard. Text uploaded to the whiteboard will not maintain original formatting, so if your draft has complex formatting or graphics we recommend that you attach it to your appointment form as a Word Doc or PowerPoint instead. You may also come to a live online appointment without a draft, to discuss an assignment or to brainstorm ideas.
When it’s time for your consultation, go to WCOnline and click on your appointment. Your appointment form will appear. Click on “start or join live online consultation.” You will then be taken to your appointment screen, where video conferencing will begin. Your consultant will meet you there.
If you have questions about live online consultations, please contact HWC Manager Kate Francis (francik@miamiaoh.edu) or Director Lizzie Hutton (huttoneb@miamioh.edu)

Accessibility
The Howe Writing Center is committed to helping provide accommodations for all Miami writers who have scheduled writing center consultations. To request an accommodation, or to inquire about the accommodations we can provide (i.e., viewing or accessing materials in alternative formats, using assistive technologies during an in-person consultation), please contact writing center manager Kate Francis (francik@miamioh.edu) at least 2 business days prior to your consultation. We are also happy to collaborate with the Miller Center in providing such accommodations.
