Hazing Prevention and Education

Miami University prioritizes proactive prevention to build a culture of mutual respect and accountability:

• Mandatory training for students, organizations, and leaders (e.g., EduRisk - Recognize and Prevent Hazing course).
• Workshops, bystander intervention programs, and risk management education focused on consent, healthy traditions, and ethical conduct.
• Collaboration with student organizations, athletics, residence life, and national headquarters to promote positive alternatives to harmful practices.
• Community programs emphasizing love (care for one another), honor (integrity in actions), and safety (protecting well-being).
• All members of the university community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and volunteers—have a responsibility to report suspected hazing. Ohio law requires certain individuals to report knowledge of hazing to law enforcement.
