Welcome to the Miami Family!

We are dedicated to your student's success and to creating a smooth transition to Miami. Family Orientation is an important part of this transition because you'll learn about the requirements, opportunities, and resources available at Miami, along with strategies for supporting your student.

• Academic requirements, including those specific to your student's major, and academic support resources
• Living on campus, including dining
• Supporting a student who commutes to Miami
• Community expectations and campus values
• Health and wellness, including student health insurance and immunization requirements, and mental health resources

• Career development throughout the Miami experience
• Strategies for supporting a first-year college student

Visit the Orientation and Transition Programs website for additional information about student orientation and to access orientation registration. Students must add family members as guests to their student orientation registration.

Orientation Canvas course log-in directions

• Make sure your student has included you as a guest in their orientation registration.
• Keep an eye out for the email invite to join the orientation Canvas course.
• Follow directions in the email invitation to create your account and password.
  • Note - the link in your email invitation only works once.
• To access the course again, use the Canvas guest log-in page.
  • If your password is not working, select Forgot Password? and follow the prompts to reset your Canvas password.
