Jennifer Burgas
About
Jen Burgas (’04, BS – Accounting and Marketing) grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with aspirations of attending a top-rated business school. She sought a mid-size campus environment that was both far from home yet not too distant. Miami University fit that bill perfectly! During her time at Miami, Jen took advantage of the university’s global programs and studied abroad at Miami’s campus in Luxembourg. Jen’s journey at Miami was not only about academic excellence but also about personal growth, connections, and lifelong learning. Among her closest friends are a group of women she met when she was a first-year student at Reid Hall.
While at Miami, Jen obtained a winter internship in external audit with KPMG. She spent seven years at KPMG before transitioning to private industry. Since leaving public accounting, Jen has held various roles at Fifth Third Bank within Finance and Internal Audit. In her current position as SVP, Senior Internal Audit Director, she is responsible for monitoring, assessing and communicating emerging risks. She also oversees the planning, development, and execution of internal advisory engagements, audits, and risk assessments for the Consumer Bank and Enterprise Compliance.
“What I enjoy most about my role in internal audit, is the broad perspective it provides. Few other positions with the organization offer visibility into new product launches, system implementation,s and regulatory changes, and how these factors impact the organization’s risks and controls.”
