Matthew Reinhold
About
Matt Reinhold, a Cincinnati native, began as a pre-med student at Miami University with dreams of becoming a dentist. However, during his first semester, he took a business class and realized he had a passion for business. Graduating in 2011 with an accounting degree and quickly passing the CPA exam, he started his career at PwC in auditing.
While at PwC, he worked on various audit assignments until he transferred to the M&A group in San Francisco, where he spent five years working on different deals in various industries. He came to admire the entrepreneurial spirit of the founders and decided to explore entrepreneurship himself. While still at PwC, he began investing in startups in the Bay Area. This opened his eyes to what it was like in the early days of venture-backed startups.
In 2020, Matt was introduced to Universal CPA Review, a visual learning course for CPA exam preparation. With the onset of COVID-19, he saw an opportunity to make a change. He left PwC to build the business, focusing on creating content and helping students pass the CPA exam.
Although students loved the platform and he found helping students rewarding, Matt realized he wanted to build businesses at scale. Around the same time, a close friend started Soundtrace, a digital hearing conservation company. Matt joined as an advisor and fractional CFO in 2021.
By the end of 2022, Soundtrace was growing, and Matt transitioned to a full-time role as COO/CFO. He played a key role in raising over $2 million, launching a digital SaaS solution, securing enterprise contracts, and implementing solutions at customer locations.
