Level 1 Courses and Pathways

Level 1 Course List

The Ohio Department of Higher Education requires CCP students must complete their first 15 credit hours of college coursework from an approved Level 1 List. These courses are highly transferable and often meet remaining high-school requirements.

These courses meet at least one of the criteria for course eligibility. Courses that meet Level 1 eligibility are:

  • Transferable courses (Approved CTAG, OT36, TAG)
  • Courses in computer science (CSE), information technology (CIT), anatomy and physiology, or foreign language
  • Courses in a designated technical certificate program, such as ENT
  • Courses in a 15- or 30-hour model pathway
  • Courses in study skills (EDT110R), academic or career success skills (EDL100)
  • Internship courses

After completing the first 15 credit hours, CCP students should discuss with their high school counselor if they wish to take a course that is not on the list.

CCP students are never eligible to enroll in the following types of courses:

  • Applied courses with one-on-one private instruction
  • Courses with high fees ($750 or more, starting Spring 2019)
  • Study Abroad courses
  • Physical Education courses (SLM120x courses, at Miami)
  • Credit/no-credit courses (credit earned without a grade)
  • Remedial courses (courses that begin with a zero, at Miami)
  • Sectarian religion courses

The courses listed below are approved Level 1 courses available at Miami University.  The list includes the reason per the state that the course is included on the Level 1 list (see course eligibility above), and also gives information about which campus or modality the course is offered.

Please note that course offerings vary by semester. This list does not reflect available courses in any given semester or term. Please refer to the course list for courses that are available each term. Prerequisites are subject to change. Refer to the current Miami Bulletin for the most up-to-date prerequisites and corequisites.

Note too that some classes are only taught on the Oxford campus or on one of the Regional campuses. Also note that most online courses at Miami are taught through the Hamilton campus.  Courses that are specific to a campus or offered only or most-often online are marked accordingly.

Ox Indicates a class only taught on the Oxford campus

Reg Indicates a class only taught at a Regional campus

Online Indicates a class that is consistently offered online through Hamilton campus

It is the student’s responsibility, with the guidance of their secondary school, to know which courses count towards high school graduation requirements. It is the high school counselor’s responsibility to keep track of the number of college credits a student earns, so only a high school counselor can say for certain if a student should be restricted to the courses on the level 1 course list.
