Miami University FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Regional Tournament

  • FIRST Tech Challenge teams (up to 15 team members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.
  • Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team. Each year brings a new challenge with an exciting theme
  • Miami University’s College of Engineering and Computing hosts a regional qualifying tournament for 28 Ohio FTC teams with a total of up to 420 students primarily from southwest Ohio in January/February each year.
  • The tournament is a premier event where 7-12th grade students are the stars at Millett Hall. These future engineers and programmers are supported by nearly 100 volunteers (students, faculty, and community members) running the tournament, 50+ coaches, and often more than 400+ family and friends cheering them on in the stands and more watching online through the live stream.
