Catalog description:

This course introduces students to the role and techniques of cyberdefense including attack identification, analysis, mitigation, and response. This course uses hands-on labs to build important applied skills for cyberdefense.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

1. Describe and explain the importance of defensive security roles and techniques.
2. Explain vulnerabilities, attacks, and mitigations for trojans, botnets, viruses and other malwares.
3. Apply individual mitigations for networks and systems against cyberattacks.
4. Use tools to identify suspicious network and system activities.
5. Apply tools to identify effects of malware and attack payloads.
6. Holistically secure and defend systems.
