Course Sequence and Registration
Though the course sequence is relatively stable there are circumstances that require students to take these courses out of the recommended sequence. In addition, continual program development and changes in national and state training standards may result in changes in curriculum or course sequence. Many of the courses require considerable field experience and service reflective of training in the field so students need to plan their schedules accordingly. Key assessments will be assigned to specific classes via rubrics that professors will use to evaluate student skill attainment.

Course Registration
You can register for most of your courses through Bannerweb. There is one exception. Some courses (e.g., EDP 620) require you to complete an Independent Study form. Please work with your academic advisor when it is time to register for courses in the event your plan of study requires any deviation from the above Course Sequence. Consult with your academic advisor as well as the instructor for any Independent Study (IS) and obtain the appropriate signatures. Discuss independent study forms (e.g., for EDP 620) with our administrative assistant (edp@MiamiOH.edu), as they are typically processed via DocuSign.
Note: In Spring 2026, you will use Workday (not Bannerweb) to register for classes. Course registration in Workday begins Fall 2027. Also, beginning in Summer 2027, you should be able to access Workday to locate information on financial balances and payments.
Additional Program Requirements
- Ohio pre-service teacher permit, including BCI + FBI background checks, required for entry into Ohio schools by the Ohio State Board of Education
- Ohio 1-year Temporary Pupil Services license (intern license), summer leading into the internship year, required by the State Board of Education
- Liability insurance, years 2 and 3
- FERPA modules
- Comprehensive exams, summer after year 1
- Praxis exam #5403, during the internship year
All details can be found in the Program Hub (Canvas course). Your academic advisor and the EHS Accreditation office work with students to collect this important data. Meetings with your academic advisor and program coordinator take place regularly, offering multiple opportunities for students to ask questions.
