As a graduate student, it is important to be aware of and consider other forms of financial aid, scholarship support, and scholarship awards whenever possible.
The Department of Educational Psychology offers the Douglas R. Miller Award, which is given to a third-year student based upon an application and faculty review.
Through the graduate school, there are many forms of such support and awards available on a competitive, non-guaranteed basis. Scholarship opportunities include Graduate Grant-in-Aid, the Marjorie Post Farrington Scholarship, the Graduate Students’ Achievement Fund, Graduate Student Association Travel Assistance Fund, the Graduate School Travel Fund, Grants for Graduate Award Holders to Improve Teaching, and the Dean’s Service Awards. Some of these awards are based on merit, whereas others are based on financial need.

It is important to note that school psychology graduate students require access to many testing kits and materials that are costly to the department. These materials, which are accessible through the Testing Library, are frequently updated and often require new purchases. As a result, each school psychology graduate student will be assessed a "School Psychology Testing Library Fee" to help minimally offset this cost, as is consistent with many other programs in the nation.
This fee is currently $50 annually for first- and second-year students. It is possible this fee could increase in subsequent years based on costs incurred. These funds will be primarily used to fund consumable testing materials (i.e., test protocols, scoring sheets) students will use and, in some cases, update existing test kits.
All materials funded through this fee will allow students to be properly trained as school psychologists and are directly tied to coursework and future work as a school psychologist. This fee will be charged through each student's Miami University Bursar account.
