Biography
Dr. Fadel M. Megahed is the Raymond E. Glos Endowed Professor of Information Systems & Analytics at Miami University's Farmer School of Business (2025–2030) and was named a Miami University Faculty Scholar in 2023. His research pioneers the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and statistical surveillance to address complex challenges in manufacturing, public health, and occupational health and safety.
Dr. Megahed's impactful research has been consistently supported by major funding organizations, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (Ohio BWC), Aflac, and GE Research. He has an extensive publication record, with 58 peer-reviewed journal papers, and his work has been covered in over 50 media outlets. Due to his international research reputation, he currently serves as the Editor for the Case Study Section of the Journal of Quality Technology.
A dedicated and recognized teacher-scholar, Dr. Megahed is the recipient of the 2025 Richard K. Smucker Teaching Excellence Award, the highest teaching honor at the Farmer School of Business. He has also received numerous other accolades for his teaching and research, including the Endres Associate Professorship (2022–2024), an FSB Research Fellowship (2023–2025), and the Mary G. and Joseph Natrella Scholarship from the American Statistical Association.
He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo.
