Biography
David C. Yen is currently the Raymond E. Glos Professor in Business and Professor of MIS of the Department of Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems at Miami University. He assumed the position of Raymond E. Glos Professor in Business from 2005-2007, and he served as department chair from 1995-2005. After receiving his PhD in MIS and MS in Computer Sciences in 1985, professor Yen has been active in research. He has published books and articles which have appeared in Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Information Sciences, Computer Standards and Interfaces, Information Society, Omega, International Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, and Communications of AIS among others. Professor Yen’s research interests include data communications, electronic/mobile commerce, and systems analysis and design.
Dr. Yen has served as an external assessor for National Sciences Foundation Council (NSFC), People Republic of China since 2002, for the Taught Postgraduate Program for M. Sc. in Information & Technology Management, for The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2001, and for the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong since 1998. He has been an invited speaker at numerous universities including National Chung Cheng University, National Cheng Chi University, National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hong Kong, and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen University, Remin University, Nanjing University in China. He has served as conference chair, program chair, track chair, and session chair for conferences in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. In addition, he had been an external reviewer invited by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong to assess the IT program for many universities in China including Northern Jiang Tong University, Shanghai University of Economic and Finance, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and others. At Miami University, he developed the Far Eastern program to lead MU students to visit Shanghai, Nanjing, Xian, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Taiwan every year since 2002.
