A longtime member of Miami University’s faculty is taking on a new role at the Farmer School of Business.
Glenn Platt has been appointed as the Director of Technology Innovation and Partnerships at FSB. In this new role, Platt will lead efforts to ensure that FSB remains at the forefront of how technology shapes business and will position the school as a premier partner for business leaders navigating technological change.
Working closely with the Associate Vice President for Development and External Relations, the Director of AI Initiatives, and the FSB Technology Committee, Platt will:
- Build FSB’s reputation as a “go-to” resource for understanding technology’s impact on business
- Develop strategic partnerships with external organizations to enhance and showcase our technology expertise
- Host thought-leadership events, such as a “Technology Issues” roundtable, to engage industry leaders, faculty, staff, and students
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing to share our technology initiatives broadly
Platt has been part of Miami for more than 30 years, as a professor of Marketing and Economics, the inaugural chair of the Department of Emerging Technology in Business & Design, and founder of the first Interactive Media Studies program in the nation. He has also been the co-director of Miami University Varsity Esports since 2016.
“Glenn brings exceptional experience to this position. As founder of Miami’s Interactive Media Studies program and Digital Innovation Centers, he has long championed emerging technologies and experiential learning,” Farmer School dean Jenny Darroch said. “His nationally recognized work in digital innovation and technology entrepreneurship positions him to advance FSB’s mission of preparing students and faculty to thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape.”
