Launching Career Panels to Connect Students with the Future of Supply Chain

This semester marked the official launch of our new Career Panel series for Intro to Supply Chain classes, creating an exciting opportunity for students to engage with industry professionals early in their college journey.

Bringing professionals into the classroom provides students with firsthand insight into career paths, networking opportunities, and real-world knowledge that extends far beyond textbooks. These conversations help students better understand the wide range of opportunities within supply chain management and encourage them to make the most of their time at the university from day one.

As the first series of panels wrapped up, several key themes consistently arose from the professionals who shared their experiences:

Many professionals did not originally major in supply chain.
Several panelists discovered the field during college and emphasized that they wished they had become involved in supply chain organizations, events, and experiences much earlier.

Networking can shape career opportunities.
Students were encouraged to begin building relationships now rather than waiting until later in their college careers. The connections made today can create opportunities for the future.

Learning should never stop.
The professionals highlighted the importance of staying curious, continuing to grow, and constantly seeking new challenges throughout their careers.

A sincere thank you goes to all of the industry professionals who dedicated their time to invest in our students and share their journeys in supply chain management. Their insight and mentorship are already making a lasting impact on the next generation of supply chain leaders.
