American/Muslim Women Collaboration holds winter break taaruf
The American/Muslim Women’s Collaboration met for its winter break taaruf at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The group holds taarufs—which means “gathering” in Arabic—as a way for Muslim women to build community in Oxford.

International Education Week draws 300 Miami students with series of intercultural activities and events
From Nov. 14-22, Miami University celebrated International Education Week, which coincided with the acceptance of the Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization.

International students become adopted granddaughters for local couple
Sue and Ed Jones befriended three international students after their grandchildren moved away. Now they take them to dinner, give them presents, and think of them as their adopted grandchildren.

Conference helps international students explore career opportunities
Miami University held its first ever Career Discovery Conference for International Students on Saturday, Nov. 16. The conference included presentations from current undergraduate and graduate students speaking about their experiences with research, internships, jobs, and other similar opportunities.

A taste of turkey: ISSS holds Thanksgiving dinner for international students
It was a week before the holiday, but the Shriver Dolibois room was transformed into a Thanksgiving feast. Dozens of circular tables filled the room, which was occupied mainly by international students and community members. For some, this was their first time eating a Thanksgiving dinner.
