Miami University offers a variety of resources to help veterans and military-affiliated students during their college journey, no matter which campus you decide to attend.

Student Veterans Center (Oxford)

Located at Wells Hall, 301 E. Spring Street, the Student Veterans Center is open 24/7 for military-affiliated students on the Oxford campus.

Handicapped-accessible, its amenities include meeting, leisure, and quiet-study spaces. It also has a television, refrigerator, and storage lockers. For more information, contact veterans@MiamiOH.edu or the One Stop at 513-529-0001.

Center for Veterans Services (Regionals)

The Center for Veterans Services provides support for student veterans on the Hamilton and Middletown campuses. Staff members can help you navigate through your benefits paperwork and connect you with other veterans and military-affiliated students attending Miami.

In Hamilton, this center is located in 108 Mosler Hall. In Middletown, it can be found in 003 Gardner-Harvey Library.

Student Veterans of America

Miami is home to two Student Veterans of America chapters, which can be found on the HUBThis organization leads service, research, programs, and advocacy for veterans in higher education.

Green Zone Training

As part of its commitment to support military-affiliated students, Miami offers Green Zone Training to faculty and staff. The program was created in 2016 by student veterans Adam Rose and Phillip Carr with assistance from staff members.

Use Your VA Benefits at Miami

Did you know that you must submit our VA Education Benefits Request Form each semester you plan to use your VA benefits at Miami? 

Plan on completing this form at the same time you register for classes! This will help ensure that your benefits are certified and ready to go in advance of the new semester.

Additional Campus Resources

Military-Affiliated Group (MAG)

The Military-Affiliated Group (MAG) is a committee of faculty and staff across all of Miami’s campuses. It provides support for military-affiliated students and has a strong affiliation with the two Student Veterans of America chapters.

One Stop

The One Stop assists Miami students and authorized family members with billing and payment, financial aid, registration, and student records. Notably, it also coordinates the processing of VA benefits. If you have a question about your benefits, reach out to veterans@MiamiOH.edu. Contact the One Stop on your campus with questions about the other topics.

Miller Center for Student Disability Services

The Miller Center for Student Disability Services (SDS) coordinates accommodations, auxiliary aids, support services and resources for students on Miami’s Oxford and Regional campuses. The SDS serves a diverse group of students including those with physical, vision, hearing, psychiatric, medical, neurological, learning, and cognitive disabilities, as well as autism spectrum and ADHD. It also coordinate temporary accommodations for students who experience significant injury or illness.

Exceptional Transportation Needs

The Parking and Transportation Office can accommodate exceptional transportation needs when granting parking permits for Miami’s Oxford and Regional campuses. Reach out to your designated campus office for more information.

Student Success Center (Oxford)

The Student Success Center can provide assistance to a number of special student populations in solving complex problems, including active military, veterans, and their benefit-eligible dependents. It also hosts a handy Guide to Campus Resources on its website to empower you to navigate the offices that can support you during your time at Miami.

Student Counseling Service (Oxford)

Student Counseling Service provides primary, secondary, and tertiary level interventions in an effort to achieve and/or maintain a mentally healthy status for each Oxford student and to create a learning environment that facilitates and supports that status.

Student Counseling Services (Regionals)

Student Counseling Services provides Regional students with confidential counseling services free of charge. It offers counseling in the following areas: suicide awareness and prevention personal concerns, relationship issues, and mental health support services for student veterans.

Rinella Learning Center (Oxford)

The Rinella Learning Center helps Oxford students achieve their academic goals. From tutoring and supplemental instruction to workshops and coaching, its programs can help you reach your full academic potential.

Tutoring and Learning Center (Regionals)

The Tutoring and Learning Center provides free services for Regional students, such as individual conferences, workshops, group and individual tutoring, peer mentoring, as well as peer and professional tutoring

Center for Career Exploration and Success

The Center for Career Exploration and Success offers a variety of programs and services, including career advising, career fairs, and online resources, designed to position Miami students for success in today’s global society. Their online resources include a dedicated Career Resources Guide for Veterans.

Students and families connected to our nation’s military can also receive support from the following outside organizations.

Graduation Recognition

Graduating student veterans and military-affiliated students are presented with a military honor cord in an official ceremony hosted by members of Miami’s Military-Affiliated Group (MAG).

If you have not applied for VA education benefits, make your service known by completing the Military Services Eligibility Form so you can be recognized at graduation.
