The University met with the Faculty Union on March 6, 2024, for continued collective bargaining negotiations. During this session, the parties focused their discussions on potential non-economic terms of the collective bargaining agreement. The Union presented new proposals on Program Elimination, Promotion Tenure, and Evaluation Process, Appealing a Denial of Tenure, Promotion, or Reappointment, Orientation, and Compliance Reform. The Union also presented a Memorandum of Understanding Regarding The Establishment Of An Ombud Service Between Miami University And FAM, AAUP-AFT.

The Union responded to several proposals presented by the University during the September and October bargaining sessions by presenting counter proposals on Appointments, Management Rights, and Discipline and Discharge. The Union also stated that it is standing on its Dec. 6, 2023, proposal on Financial Exigency and Retrenchment.

The University presented new proposals on Union Access to Information and Facilities and Outside Employment and Professional Activities. Both of these proposals were in response to subject matters raised in the Union’s Associations Rights proposal presented to the University on Feb. 26, 2024. Additionally, based on the parties' discussions during the bargaining session, the University’s bargaining team made updates to these two proposals, which included incorporating language regarding orientations into its Union Access to Information and Facilities proposal. The University also presented a counter proposal on Grievance and Arbitration. Following its review of the Union’s proposals, the University’s bargaining team rejected the Union’s new proposal on Compliance Reform as well as its Memorandum of Understanding Regarding The Establishment Of An Ombud Service Between Miami University And FAM, AAUP-AFT.

The parties will meet again on March 13, 2024 at the Wilks Conference Center.
