Mallory-Wilson Center Funds

Dr. Kenneth McLeish Undergraduate Premedicine Research Fund

This fund provides additional financial support to eligible students to engage in research.  If you are planning on conducting research this summer, then you are strongly encouraged to apply for support from the Mallory-Wilson Center. A variety of research activities can be supported, including Miami's USS (University Summer Scholars) program and summer undergraduate research fellowship programs offered at other universities and medical centers.  Note: physician/patient-related research is not required.  Proof of acceptance into a research program will be required before funds can be disbursed.

Dr. Asa C. Messenger Memorial Loan Fund

This fund was established by Mr. Conrad Leslie in honor of Dr. A.C. Messenger. Interest-free loans of up to $2,500 are available to undergraduates preparing for a career as a physician. Loan recipients must be in good standing and enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Loans require the recommendation and approval of the Director of the Mallory-Wilson Center. Loan repayment begins one year after graduating from medical school or one year after leaving Miami University if the student does not pursue postgraduate study. The entire loan shall be repaid within 10 years after the initial payment is due.

Drs. Jeana Jackson-Griffith and M. Christopher Griffith Student Assistance Fund

This fund is used to support the needs of students from traditionally underrepresented minorities who are in pre-health.  To apply for support, please contact the Mallory-Wilson Center.

John B. and JoAnn C. Rohyans Fund

This fund is to assist students who are participating in the Center's Preceptorship program in the Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education.  Uses shall include but are not limited to travel support, lodging support, and meal support.  To request consideration, please contact the Mallory-Wilson Center.

Ronald L. Wiley Fund

This fund, donated by Dr. Paul Apyan to honor his mentor Ron Wiley, provides support and assistance to students in the premedical program and planning to attend medical school.  The range of this support includes areas such as annual scholarships or other areas of assistance for pre-med students such as MCAT exam preparation courses and books, premedical experiential learning opportunities (travel expense, room and board, other), medical school applications, or interviews and the associated expenses. To request consideration, please contact the Mallory-Wilson Center.
