The B.A./M.A. program offers a combined bachelor’s and master’s pathway that allows qualified Psychology majors to begin graduate coursework during their senior year.
The M.A. in Psychology can be completed in one additional year and equips students with advanced training in human behavior, research, statistics, critical thinking, and communication. It prepares students for careers in research, analysis, human services, and related fields, as well as future graduate or professional study.
Students in the combined Psychology B.A./M.A. program remain undergraduates until they apply for graduation or submit a request to the Graduate School to have their classification changed from undergraduate to graduate. Students must receive the bachelor’s degree before they begin working toward the master’s degree fulltime.
To graduate with the undergraduate degree, students must complete all undergraduate degree requirements for the B.A. in Psychology. To graduate with the M.A. in Psychology, students must complete 30 graduate credit hours.
Students may double count up to 9 graduate credit hours toward undergraduate degree requirements. This means that some graduate courses taken during the senior year may also help fulfill undergraduate requirements, with approval of the Program Director.
Students may declare their interest in the combined Psychology B.A./M.A. by 1st October of the Fall semester of their junior year. This is to allow the careful planning this program requires. Students are encouraged to contact the Psychology B.A./M.A. Program Director as early as possible (PsyBAMAProgram@MiamiOH.edu).
