Chamber Singers
Department of Music
The Miami University Department of Music encourages its students to develop their relationship to the discipline of music as they explore the world through the lens of a superb liberal arts education.
The Chamber Singers, conducted by Reina Dickey, is Miami University's chamber choir. The ensemble performs a wide range of choral repertoire from the Renaissance era to the contemporary. In addition to their performances on campus, the Chamber Singers have compiled a distinguished record of invited performances at state, divisional, and national conferences of MENC and divisional conferences of ACDA and have toured throughout the Midwest where they have established a reputation of excellence in performance.
The Chamber Singers have participated in international tours in Europe and South America. They have collaborated with professional organizations such as the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble and the American Spiritual Ensemble. Recent commissions include the 2010 world premiere of a work by Adolphus Hailstork that was commissioned by Miami University in celebration of the university's bicentennial, and, in 2013, a work by Italian composer, Corrado Margutti.
During the first week of classes, ensemble members are at informational tables located in the Armstrong Student Center to sign students up for audition times and to answer questions about the ensembles.
