Dr. Jeong-Hoi Koo

Arthur Olson Generational Outstanding Teaching Excellence Award

The most evident indicator of Professor Koo’s dedication to Miami’s “student as scholar” model is his unsurpassed record of working with over 50 undergraduate students in independent research studies. He has also utilized senior capstone as a mode to guide over 100 students in projects of global and humanitarian impact. Three of his undergraduate research scholars have received the Provost’s Academic Achievement Award – the highest academic honor for students. Additionally, more than 20 of his undergraduate research scholars have co-authored research publications and have presented at various local and national events. These achievements alone paint the picture of a faculty whose commitment to student life-long success is above the highest expectations.

Proferssor Koo has been a leader in developing study abroad opportunities for the College’s students to engage in international research collaboration with students from South Korea. He is also the advisor for Miami-KAIST student exchange program. The 2016 Dolibois Faculty Award is a recognition of his innovation of global programming. It would be appropriate to say that Prof. Koo’s programs have raised student experience to a new level by deeply and profoundly impacting undergraduate education.
