A Farmer School accountancy professor who served as dean from 2018 until his retirement in 2020 has received a prestigious award for his service to the accounting profession. Marc Rubin was named as a recipient of the American Accounting Association Service Award this week.

The award “is to recognize outstanding services to the Association other than educational and research contributions. This award is intended for rare events or milestones achieved.” The award is decided solely by the Board of Directors and does not have a formal nomination process. It is given at the annual AAA meeting in August.

Rubin started at the Farmer School and Miami University in 1990. He served as chair of the Department of Accountancy from 2003 until he became interim dean in 2017.

Farmer School accountancy professor Anne Farrell earned the award in 2019.
