An I-94 is a number and admission record assigned electronically to international visitors, including students, when entering the U.S. by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Your I-94 record will list your entry date, port of entry, visa status, and how long you may remain in the U.S. An individualized number will also be assigned to the record. This I-94 number and record serves as proof of your ability to be present in the U.S. legally. Please note that this document may be requested by various offices and agencies in the U.S. during the course of your studies in order to demonstrate your legal status.
International students visiting the U.S. can look up and review their I-94 admission number and record as well as retrieve a limited travel history online on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection site.
Note: Each time an international visitor enters the U.S., a new record is issued. This means that your I-94 record and number will be updated each time you travel outside of the U.S. ISSS recommends that you review your I-94 record each time that you travel.
If you notice an error on your electronic I-94 record, it may be possible to have it corrected. Errors on your electronic I-94 record could include name format, visa type, or the admission date (date of expiration). Contact ISSS at international@MiamiOH.edu to receive assistance.
