Finalize Your Financial Aid

File the FAFSA

File the FAFSA annually (available October 1) by Miami’s priority deadlines.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA will be available in December 2023. The exact date has not yet been released by the Department of Education. Please visit the FAFSA Simplification page for more information.

Complete Requirements, Holds, and Federal Verification

Missing requirements will delay payment of financial aid and could disrupt your enrollment.

Federal Direct Student Loans

Accept or decline your student loans on the Financial Aid Offer tab in Banner 9 Self Service - Financial Aid.

First-time federal student loan borrowers will need to complete Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) by logging into StudentAid.gov with their FAFSA ID. 

Teach Grant

Accept or decline your TEACH Grant on the Financial Aid Offer tab in Banner 9 Self Service - Financial Aid

Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan (PLUS)

If they plan to borrow, we encourage parents to complete the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan (PLUS) application by June 1 to allow time for processing.

Private Loans

Apply for private loans by June 1 to allow time for processing.

Report Outside Resources

Report any outside resources you are expecting to receive such as non-Miami scholarships and tuition assistance on the Financial Aid Offer tab in Banner 9 Self Service - Financial Aid

Reminders and Notes

  • Pay your bill by the due datePayment plan options are also available. 
  • Financial aid will be disbursed to your Miami (bursar) account, after all requirements are met, according to Miami’s disbursement schedule.
  • Sign up for RedHawk Refunds, a free, convenient service that provides faster access to financial aid refunds.
  • Your financial aid may change for a variety of reasons. Visit the Financial Aid Adjustments page for more information. 
  • If your family’s financial situation has changed since completing the FAFSA; if you are experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness; or if you are unable to obtain parent(s) information to complete the FAFSA, visit the Appeals page for more information and your next steps.
  • Learn about FERPA and complete a FERPA Release Form if you would like to grant individuals access to view your information.
  • Enroll or waive participation in the student health insurance plan annually.
